Robert Doisneau said:
“The marvels of daily life are exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street.”
and we really understood what he meant while we were working on this project.
When we talk about everyday, nothing extraordinary comes to mind. We usually think about all the obligations we have for that day. But every day, every thing we do, every situation we find ourselves in, and every moment are special.
We are exceedingly used to everything, so that often we don’t stop to look around and think about, how there’s undefinable beauty even in the most ordinary things. Every day miracles happen, but we get so used to living, we eventually stop noticing.
So, we, two girls from different countries, decided to stop thinking for a second and participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability – to participate in the things that happen every day, but are still special, and all of those things we all have in common, no matter where we come from.
So, here’s our little collection of street photography, taken in Spain, Macedonia and Germany. We hope you’ll enjoy it.
And, as a little advice from us: Smile. You can never know on whose wall of art you’ll end up.
